Congratulations are warmly offered to the connections of Wintonia (Domesday/Coupe), headed by our good friend and long time client John Sweeney.  This is Wintonia’s first win at her seventh start, and is a just reward for the patience shown by her owners and trainer.

It was a significant win for jockey Patrick Moloney too, being his first as a senior rider.  The Moloneys and the Careys go back a long way, and Pat Carey is always pleased to have young Patrick on his horses.  Patrick described Pat as his “second best supporter”, and recalled that his first ever win as a raw young 17 year old was Luck’s A Fortune, trained by Pat Carey.

Wintonia has shown promise, and today she relished the 2000m and a bit of give in the ground at the excellent new Pakenham track.  She has given her owners a bit of a bumpy ride at times, sustaining a nasty injury just before she was ready to make her debut.  Thanks to prompt and skilful attention from vet Dr Eoin Kelly “Winnie” has made a full recovery and we are delighted that she has broken through to win her maiden today.

Well done to all of the Epsom Lodge team, including Shaun who took the reins today whilst Pat and Cheryl were at an industry function.  Thanks are due to all of the crew for their hard work and dedication without which it would not be possible to keep our horses well and happy and winning.
