Pat and Cheryl are preparing for next week's Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, where they will be looking to discover some future champions.  There have been 775 yearlings catalogued, representing the cream of the crop from many of the finest studs and bloodlines in Australia.

Peter Heagney, Inglis Melbourne Director, spoke about the upcoming sale, saying

“Record entries were received this year enabling our bloodstock team to be very selective on type and conformation, which is so important to buyers today.

It is certainly encouraging that year after year the quality keeps improving, but what is additionally pleasing is to see the horse’s sold at the sale match the sale ring results,” Heagney adds.

In the last ten years the stakes winners to lots sold ratio from Melbourne Premier has risen 44%, reflecting the quality of horses offered and bought at this sale.

“We are now offering twice as many yearlings, but the sale is producing nearly three times are many stakes winners,” Heagney points out.

Pat and Cheryl have identified a handful of prospects on breeding, and have visited several studs in recent weeks to inspect their drafts.  This year they are focussing on horses that are Super VOBIS, and VOBIS Gold qualified, as they offer the added incentive of valuable bonus payments.

Give them a call, or look out for them at the sales if you are interested in a yearling (or part of one!), they would be only too pleased to offer help or advice.
