It was a great night at Cranbourne on Friday 10th March, with Baykool (High Chaparral/Our Serena), ridden by Noel Callow breaking through for a 6 length win in the Walk for Phil maiden plate.  Congratulations to Peter, Terry, Tim, Peter, Francis, Derek, Tim and the Grasscutters syndicate, Simon, Anthony, Ricky, Cherryn, Sharyn and Matthew who have been patient and are now seeing the rewards.  Adding to the excitement was the fact that game little filly Kamili ridden by Rhys McLeod ran second to Baykool, making it a Carey quinella.

It was a huge day for the Carey family, as earlier in the day Pat and Cheryl attended the Wakeful Club Lady of Racing Luncheon, coming straight to the races from the function.  Cheryl Carey was a finalist in the Wakeful Lady of Racing awards this year, along with Barbara Saunders and Leigh Woodgate who was one of the first female jumps jockey in Australia.  Cheryl was recognised for her lifetime of achievements in the Racing Industry, including her current role as a member of the Expert Working Group assessing the training of stablehands and track riders.  We are all enormously proud of Cheryl, and pleased for her that her contribution to Racing has been acknowledged.
