It was a busy weekend of racing with a great start and a great finish.  We had runners at seven meetings over the four day Australia Day weekend, and Marleesand and Elle Excite provided the highlights with bookend wins.

Marleesand won the first race contested by Epsom Lodge, scoring her first career win at Cranbourne on Friday night.  Some mixed fortunes followed, but the weekend finished on a high note with Elle Excite winning the last at Sandown.

Elle was again the standout in the mounting yard, and after being tarday at the start she absolutely powered home for jockey Stephen King to win by almost two lengths.

Elle had an enthusiastic crew of owners on hand, they have all weathered the stormy seas of racing as she can be an unreliable conveyance!  Today she put her best foot forward – all four of them actually – and won with conviction.

This is another of the "Class of 2012" yearlings, and her record now stands at 3 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 14 starts.  We are absolutely delighted for her patient owners, and very thankful to the team at Epsom Lodge who work so hard to give every horse the care they need to bring out their best.
