The Yearling Sales season is upon us and Pat and Cheryl will be attending all of the major sales to uncover the new stars of Epsom Lodge.
We kick off on Wednesday at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale, and Pat has his eye on a few likely types including a super smart colt by Pierro in the Musk Creek Farm draft and a real eye-catching filly (pictured) by Artie Schiller out of one of our favourite former racemares – Our Serena.
Later this month we will also be attending the New Zealand Yearling Sales, with a couple of prospects in mind, then we look forward to the Melbourne Premier Sales in March and the Easter Yearling Sales in Sydney.
We have a great record with our yearlings, especially considering that we are not big spenders. Our 2012 yearlings included Kareeming (2 city wins, 2nd in Pakenham Cup and Cranbourne Cup) and Elle Excite (2 city wins). In 2013 we purchased Choix de Maia (city winner and stakes placed) in New Zealand and All I Survey (stakes placed) at the Adelaide Magic Millions. Our 2014 crop are just starting to hit their straps, including Hela Flyer – winner on debut.
