Moonee Valley was Happy Valley for Team Carey on Labour Day with a win and two encouraging placings for the day.

Choix de Maia continued her great form with a win in the City Jeep Grand Cherokee Hcp, her second win on the trot. Hakuna Matata showed that he is starting to put it all together with a strong finishing fourth, and Aaron Mitchell gave General Jackson an absolutely brilliant ride to finish second by a bob of the head.

Choix de Maia (Choisir/Zaloot) was bred by Mike Moran (breeder of So You Think)& Chris Chamberlain,  and was raised at Windsor Park, one of New Zealand's most prominent thoroughbred nurseries.  Pat bought her at the Karaka Premier sales, and she is raced by a lovely group of people including long-time clients Dennis, Andrew and Lisa, Parkdale football club devotees including the Reebasevol and Riff Raff syndicates, and also some new clients Bob, Doug and Mark and the OTL syndicate.

Pat has always had an opinion of Choix de Maia, and with time, patience and education – particularly from Rhys who has ridden her in most of her races – she is developing into a nice filly who looks to have a bright future ahead of her.

Leah dressed Choix de Maia with a pink ribbon today, in support of the 4Tracks4Kids charity walk which finished up at Moonee Valley.  Congratulations to all of the 200 plus walkers, including the Ladies of the Turf team, who walked over 40klm to raise funds for worthy causes including Very Special Kids, Pancare, National Jockeys Trust and DOXA Youth Foundation.   http://www.4tracks4kids.com.au/

Here are the Ladies of the Turf team with Cheryl, resting their weary feet at the end of a long morning's walk.  L to R they are Jamie, Mandy, Kate, Cheryl and Caitrin. Many thanks to all sponsors who helped the "Ladies" raise money for this great cause, particularly to Shane Morrissy for his very generous donation.
