The old firm was back in town today as Rhys McLeod teamed up with Pat and Cheryl to win with Marleesand at Geelong today.  Marleesand seems to find another leg on the synthetic track at Geelong, with a first, a second and a fourth from her four starts at the track.

Marleesand is raced by the Ladies of the Turf syndicate, a group put together by Cheryl to promote the participation of women in racing.  There are about 20 girls with an interest in Marleesand, and whilst they come from very different backgrounds and walks of life, all are united in their love of horses and racing (and hats).   Cheryl organises functions like our Hats and High Tea (see below) and invites us to attend industry luncheons and soirees to get us involved in the racing scene.

Cheryl, along with Lisa and Caitrin recently attended a Hats and Handbags evening organised by the Wakeful Club, and we are looking forward to our Spring catchup in the near future.

Well done especially to our fellow Lady of the Turf – Deren Rowe of Strides Ahead – whose equine muscular therapy helps keep Marleesand in tip-top shape.   Thanks to Rhys for a stylish ride, and to Pat and the Epsom Lodge team for having Marleesand in winning form today.

Finally, warmest thanks must go to Cheryl for putting together this opportunity for us Ladies to share our racing passion, with fun and fashion!
