Swift Sis provided an exciting win down the straight at Flemington in the mares benchmark 84 (1100m) coming from an almost hopeless position at the 150m mark making up three lengths to get past the talented, Miss Toorak Flyer, to win by a breathe in a photo finish.

What was amazing was that she was a length and a half in front of Miss Toorak Flyer at the 600m.

Well ridden by Damian Lane, she responded positively once Damian moved the whip into the left hand and finished powerfully in the last 100m to win.

Owned by Tony Santic’s Makybe Farm, Swift Sis provides Epsom Lodge with its first win in the famous colours.

Swift Sis, a pint sized mare by Husson Lightning, has an interesting past having originally raced in Western Australia, mainly in Kalgoorlie and Esperance, but has also won in the Metropolitan area. She was purchased by Joe Murray, Tony’s racing and breeding manager, to race in Victoria.

The future looks bright, there are good opportunities in Victoria for this type of mare and may well turn up in a race like the Hareeba Stakes at Mornington on Cup Day.

Many thanks to our dedicated staff of Epsom Lodge who turned her out in excellent fashion and continued the good run of late from the stable.
