Patrick Carey Racing has an exceptional team of staff and specialists that contribute to making this such an outstanding training facility.

All our staff have shown dedication and loyalty, with a majority,  being long term employees since our move to Mornington.

PATRICK CAREY

PATRICK CAREY, Trainer (aka -The Oracle)

Patrick Carey is very much a “hands on trainer” which ensures that clients are included and an integral part of the training program of their horses.  Pat is well respected within the Industry and amongst owners and peers.   Pat attends Industry meetings and is an integral part of the Australian Trainers Association.
 


 



CHERYL CAREY

CHERYL CAREY, Co-Pilot

Cheryl has been in the racing industry for the majority of her life and plays a key role in the operation of their business including general office manager, which incorporates accounts, staff and owner communications. Cheryl also assists her husband in race day procedures, attends  most "Sales" with Pat and enjoys the challenge of casting  her eye over prospective yearlings .. 



DR. RICK SELTH

DR. RICK SELTH, Stable Vet

Dr Rick Selth has been Pats stable Vet for approximately 20 years. Rick heads the Practice of  "Epsom Veterinary Centre" and is a valued and respected member among his collegues. Rick attends the stable every day as a matter of routine and is always accessable should the need arise.



LEIGH MACDONALD

LEIGH MACDONALD, Stable Farrier

Leigh is a valued member of our team, he has been with us at Mornington since 2004. Whilst he works as an independant Farrier he visits our stable to monitor our horses on a daily basis. You will quite often see Leigh at the races as a back up should there be any foot related issues with our horses. 



MARK HENSON, Foreman

Mark joined our team about 7 years ago and has made the transition from head stablehand and traveling foreman to Head Foreman  He has made the change with confidence and direction and has been an enormous contributer in preparing our horses to achieve raceday results. Mark is my stepson and whilst he layed parquettary flooring by trade he has aways been involved in the industry in some way. Football injuries played a part in his decision to change his occupation 7 years ago and when Simon moved on to persue other interests in the industry we were pleased that Mark accepted the role as P G Carey Racing's Head Foreman. He will be assisting the "Team" in all aspects as well as representing Pat whilst he is Interstate at Yearling Sales or other Racing venues.

We have very compenant full time members of our staff

Mark Henson - (Son) Join the team at PG Carey Racing in 2004, working his way to Foreman status and travels interstate when required . Since his arrival he has been an enormous contributor to preparing our horses and achieving our Race Day Results.

Karel Stryja has become a very important addition to our staff.  Karel is the  main rider of all our horses ranging from Yearlings to fast work and is a very competant Raceday Jumps Jockey in his own right. Born in the Czech Republic he brings with him a vast experience having ridden all through Europe as well as the worlds famous Velka Pardubicka (pardubiska) 7 times often referred to as the most gruelling horse race in the world.

Carly Thomas has been with PG Carey Racing since 2004, and is also a major part of our team. Carly is a track work rider and is able to give an assessment with regard to the potential ability of our horses

Jockey Michael Carson is also an important part of our team and rides for us on racedays and is a regular at trackwork as he is well respected for his opinion when assessing horses

Adam Bell, Johnny Fallon and Shelly Sheppard - are all valued staff members and play a major roll in the responsibility of day to day care and race day preparation and achievments.

Part Time staff Members - All of whom are valued long term employee's include Pam Atkin, Mandy Henson (Daughter) Shaun Henson (Son) Paul and David Meagher (Cheryl's Brothers)  Michelle Dalton, Catherine Panozzo Ashleigh Looker, Bianca Souter and also Robyn Pay and Bernard Carey (Pat's brother who are mostly part time employees.
