Anna Mae all the way

Mar 12, 2020

Congratulations to the happy owners of Anna Mae, recently arrived at Epsom Lodge in fantastic condition from the Mick Kent stables, while Mick takes a short break from training. She certainly put her best foot forward at her first start for us at Cranbourne on 6th March, with a fighting win in the  Procon Developments Maiden Plate over 2025m.  Beau Mertens did not bustle her early so she settled nicely off the pace and travelled well to the 600m where she got blocked in.  He navigated her through to the 100m mark where she finally saw daylight and dived strongly to the line to win by a long head.  We are delighted to welcome all of her owners to the Epsom Lodge team, and we certainly could not have got off to a better start.

We had a busy few days with runners at Sandown on the Wednesday (Kootara - 3rd), Pakenham on Thursday (Reliable Lisa 5th, Fioratura 4th, Chloe's Day 3rd) then Cranbourne on Friday (Anna Mae 1st, Ultra Smart 5th, The Nella Maris 10th) and finishing the week with Maclairey running second in the Sony Creek Cup.

We were also active at the Melbourne Premier Yearling sales, and we are excited to report that we have purchased the full brother to Chloe's Day (Rest - More Than Ameira).  He is a well put together type of colt, thrown very much to his mother, and we have our eye on him as a stayer of the future as his dam won over 1750m.
