Algiers makes every post a winner

Apr 08, 2019

Algiers scored a dominant all-the-way maiden victory at Racing.com Park (Pakenham) on Thursday 4 April winning by a decisive margin of 5.5-lengths.

Well-rated by in-form jockey Rhys McLeod, Algiers gradually took up the lead before racing away on the corner and gapping his rivals for an emphatic victory - the first of a winning double for Epsom Lodge on the night.

Algiers is from the first crop of Group 1 winning sire Crowded House (GB), out of the mare Bareback, and was bred by renowned breeders of stayers, Trevor and Terrie Delroy, of Wyadup Valley Farm.

A Group One winner of the Doncaster Racing Post Trophy, Crowded House stands virtually as a private sire for Mr Delroy. He comes with a superb pedigree being by Rainbow Quest from the family of champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy. His branch of the family through Chapel of Dreams has delivered Group One winners such as Reckless Abandon, Brando and Ticker Tape, and Algiers looks well on the way to achieving more success.

Many thanks to our dedicated staff at Epsom Lodge who turned him out in excellent order and continued the good run of late for the stable.
