Occasionally you will see a very handsome but quiet chap in the stalls next to our horses at the races.  This is Nugget, our much loved stable pony who has been with us since Cocky was an egg.

Nugget has been an integral part of the Epsom Lodge team, working at trackwork in the mornings, going to the races, and supervising the yards at home.  Whilst we don't know his exact age, we do know that he is eligible to go to the over 25's dances!  He may well be older than Leah who is holding him in this picture!

In his previous life Nugget has been a rodeo pickup horse, been on trail rides through the Man from Snowy River country, and worked as a station horse. He has been retired from trackwork duties for some years now, but he remains invaluable as our official Raceday Chaperone.  He provides a calming influence in the float and at the races, particularly at city meetings where long waits are required.  He stands dozing in the stalls during the hustle and bustle of a busy race meeting, just hoping that nobody throws a saddle on him!

We luv ya Noo-jay!
