Smart mare, Ultra Smart, landed her second victory in dominant style at her home track of Mornington on Sunday 7 April.
Having had some niggling issues over the past couple of years, it’s great to see Ultra Smart back in the winner’s stall and continuing her great record at Mornington having won twice and finished second from her three attempts at the track.
Given a brilliant ride from in-from apprentice Jack Martin, the daughter of Smart Missile, out of the mare Fraschetti, camped right on the leaders back before peeling out and taking control of the race on the bend. From there the race was put to bed with Ultra Smart kicking clear for a comfortable three-length victory.
Congratulations to the big group of owners involved in this lovely mare. It’s always great to get a winner at our home track.
