The Ladies of the Turf Syndicate was put together by a group of our friends and wives or partners of current clients of PG Carey Racing – all girls – who love their racing and love an excuse to dress up and have fun.  They race Marleesand, a four year old mare who raced for the first time in her career at Geelong last Tuesday.  As you can see from the picture at left she is happy to check out the competition and is a keen student of form!

Marleesand has been given plenty of time to to get over a couple of growth issues and Pat has had to manage her carefully and we are very impressed with the girls patience and commitment. Pat had faith in the horse, and has put a lot of time into making sure that she would be at her best for her first start.   All the plans came together on the day, and Marleesand gave everyone a fantastic sight, putting in a really gutsy effort to finish second by 1/2 head.

She races in the very distinctive hot pink with an "L" (for Ladies of the Turf) logo, and a hot pink cap with a white pompon so you can't miss her in the field.   The Ladies are looking forward to seeing these colours in the winner's stall very soon – and looking forward even more to the celebrations afterwards!!!
