Emerging stayer Francarlo, a grey gelding, lived up to his strong staying pedigree (Reliable Man x Lady Love) to record his maiden victory last night at Racing.com Park (Pakenham).

Ridden by stable apprentice Jack Martin, Francarlo sat outside the leader and made the tempo all of his own to pull away and win by a length and a half in the 2550m maiden.

Trainer Pat Carey’s view is that Francarlo is very well suited at the trip and could potentially get further. Pat thinks the Galilee Series (2400m) for three-year-old’s and even out to the St Leger trip (2800m) would be a very suitable target for a horse like Francarlo.

Raced by Frank Carratelli and Carlo Inglese, hence the name Francarlo, along with their partners, enjoyed the break-through win.

Congratulations to all and once again thanks very much to the dedicated staff at Epsom Lodge for turning Francarlo out in excellent condition.
