Helenus gelding Durnford gave Epsom Lodge a great start to 2013 when he won his maiden in emphatic fashion at Sale on the 2nd of January. Jockey Brad Rawiller rode a smooth tactical race, letting Durnford bounce out of the gates keenly before taking his foot off the gas and allowing the horse to settle mid race. Durnford then cruised past his rivals in the straight, and got so far ahead that Brad looked over his shoulder twice to see where everyone else was!
Durnford continues the success for owner and breeder Trevor Delroy and his racing and breeding operation Wyadup Valley Farm. He is a typical big bay Helenus, he has taken time to develop and mature and hopefully there will be bigger and better things in store for him.
