The ever-reliable Dan Zephyr had a great day at Flemington today, winning the Kyle Smith Handicap thanks to a great ride by apprentice Michael Dee.

Pat paid tribute to the patience of Dan Zephyr's owners and breeders who kept the faith with the horse during his early career, waiting until he was 4 for his first start.  They were quickly rewarded when he won his maiden at his third start, and today's win makes it 4 from 14 starts, this being his first win in town,

According to Pat, he has lost his gig as post-race interviewee to Paul "Poppa" Meagher, and as Poppa was not at the races today, racing.com have uploaded the interview with jockey Michael Dee.  Click on the link below to hear Sam Hyland's interview with Michael.

This is the third win in a week for the stable (two of them in town) – a credit to all of the team as Pat and Cheryl have been in New Zealand for the sales.  It takes a strong tight-knit team to do well when the captain is away, and Pat and Cheryl appreciate everyone's hard work and dedication.
