Trained to the minute by Pat Carey and ridden to perfection by apprentice Michael Dee, the big son of Domesday settled back in the field today and relaxed nicely for his rider before coming home strongly to record a 3/4 length win.
This win is a good reward for patience shown by Pat and connections Cheryl, Cath, Steve, Peter and Peter. They have given this horse every opportunity to grow and develop, and this being his third win from 16 starts, the signs are that he is starting to put it all together.
Thanks must go to all the Epsom Lodge team, including Paul "Poppa" Meagher who was in charge of speech-making duties today as Pat and Cheryl are at the sales in New Zealand. Cheryl spotted this horse in the parade ring at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale, and we all hope that her eagle eye alights on another future champ at Karaka!
